So I became a mother at 17, so that made me a “teen mom”. Only 40% of teen moms graduate high school. I graduated high school with honors and on time in 2008. Less than 2% of teen moms graduate college before the age of 30. I graduated college in 2012 at the age of 22. And I even have a law degree by the age of 25. They don’t have statistics for teen mom lawyers but I’m breaking molds. I don’t just do it for my family. I do it so that other girls realize that life does not end when they become a young mother. I do it to inspire everyone to reach for their goals no matter what life has dealt them. I do it so that people stop judging and start encouraging others. I remember in high school I was told I couldn’t do it and that i would not make it to law school. Well I not only made it through college and law school, I did it while working and I graduated with no debt. Like one of my favorite quotes “the world will tell you who you are, until you tell the world”. The world told me I was a teen mom who would not make it to college, but I told the world I am successful young mother who is going to be a bomb attorney. #blessedbeyondmeasure #breakingbarriers #wedidit #becauseofthemwecan #newblackstereotype
